Evidence Based Urology

The objective of the Evidence Based Urology (EBUro) task force is to bring together the major Urological Associations and Societies in an effort to improve the development of clinical practice guidelines in Urology. In a meeting in Istanbul in March 2005 and a subsequent meeting in Paris in June 2005 representatives of the International Consultation on Urological Diseases (ICUD), American Urological Association (AUA), European Association of Urology (EAU), Society of International Urology (Société Internationale d'Urologie - SIU), Urological Association of Asia (AUS) and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) working group agreed upon developing a common guideline methodology that would follow the principles of evidence based practice.

There is universal agreement by representatives of these organizations and societies that a common approach will enhance the efficiency and quality of guideline development and, thus, ultimately lead to better patient care. The organizations formed the Evidence-Based Urology (EBUro) task force to develop and agree upon a common process of guideline development and follow the GRADE methodology for grading the quality of evidence and strength of recommendations.

This web site will serve members of the EBUro task force to communicate about current pilot projects and those interested in the EBUro efforts to obtain information. Part of the subsequent sites require log-in privileges for participation in active projects.
